Who we are is marked by a trail of breadcrumbs. Moments of memory, leaving a winding trail back to the first moments we remember - this is the path we can see in our mind’s eye, the string of memory tied to the door-post of our lives. When those breadcrumbs blow away, what is left of who you are? What happens when the string marking your path catches fire?

Breadcrumbs is a four-hour live combat secrets & powers LARP about losing your way and working out what really matters to you. In Breadcrumbs, players can expect to do the following:

  • Live combat, though it is not the focus of the game
  • Puzzle-solving
  • Sorting out conflicting information to determine the “truth”
  • Debating various courses of action
  • Emotional one-on-one conversations

While this is a live combat game, we welcome folks with little or no boffer experience. If you are new to boffer and curious about it, please come try it out!

Players must be 18 or older.

Memory, loss, change, regret, difficult decisions, group dynamics, figuring out what matters to you in life, mental illness and distortions that arise from it.

    A note on combat:

Combat will not be the central focus of the game, nor is it our goal to physically exhaust the players. Our game features live combat as a way to help players embody their characters through the introduction of a physical element rather than as an end in and of itself. Combat in this game serves to help the players tell the story, not as a game to be won.

    General expectations:

  • You will not have a clear idea going into the game as to what will happen. (This is not an amnesia game, but there are some similar pieces to one.)
  • This larp may feature swift and significant changes in what your character thinks is going on, as well as what you (the player) think is going on. If you don’t like surprises and paradigm shifts, this may not be the best fit for you.
  • Unless otherwise specified, please do not talk to other players before the game about your characters in any detail beyond costuming.

Negative emotions you might experience during play
    Disorientation, frustration, confusion, grief, anxiety

    Interplayer relations
While there may be conflicting character goals that may cause in game tension and conflict, this is not a game where anyone starts out with goals like "murder this other character". :-D This does not preclude PvP combat if the players come to blows over an argument or the like, but this is an emergent property rather than an explicit theme.
